Gem Squash is a round squash about the size of a orange or small grapefruit. Its dark green skin sets it apart from other squash and its delicious nutty taste is a firm favourite amongst South Africans.
Our favourite way to cook Gem Squash is to cut them in half and boil them in a small amount of water for about 20mins. Make sure to cut them before boiling. Scoop out the pips and add butter. For a gourmet Gem Squash serve with butter and cheese.
